THE SHOP
Branding For Film & TV
For The Shop, we led a brand refresh and created the opening titles for the HBO series.
Created by Paul Rivera and starring LeBron James and Maverick Carter, The Shop brings athletes, artists, entertainers, and cultural figures into the intimate setting of a barbershop for candid conversations around sports, culture, business, and life.
Our work focused on evolving the show’s visual identity while preserving the authenticity and cultural significance of the barbershop as a space for open dialogue, community, and perspective. The refreshed brand needed to feel classic, elevated, and rooted in the visual language of traditional barbershop culture, while still supporting the premium tone of an HBO series.
The wordmark was inspired by vintage barbershop signage, using a classic typographic approach and a gold palette to evoke warmth, heritage, prestige, and a sense of exclusivity. A stylized scissors detail was incorporated into the mark as a subtle nod to old barbershop logos and the craft at the center of the show’s world.
Across the opening titles and brand system, the design brought together nostalgia and refinement, creating a visual identity that felt both timeless and contemporary. The result was a brand language that supported the show’s unique mix of intimacy, cultural relevance, and premium storytelling.
