NAOMI OSAKA - SECOND SET

Waffle Iron, Nike’s entertainment studio, and Fulwell Entertainment and director Kat Jayme, partnered with our team to help shape creatively, and bring Naomi Osaka: Second Set to life.

The documentary follows Naomi Osaka as she steps into a defining new chapter: her return to tennis after motherhood. More than a comeback story, Second Set explores what it means to re-enter the sport with a changed body, a deeper sense of self, and a new perspective on ambition, identity, and purpose.

Our team helped built the creative foundation for a story centered on Naomi’s second act in tennis. The project became a platform to explore her evolution as an athlete, mother, and global icon, capturing the emotional complexity of returning to competition while redefining success on her own terms.

Visually, the documentary was approached as a camcorder collection of VHS letters to self, creating an intimate, personal, and nostalgic language. The aesthetic draws from the VHS world, using native typefaces, stickers, VHS inspired color treatments, and lo-fi textures to evoke an uplifting, self world rooted in the 80’s and 90’s

We supported the project across executive production, creative direction, design, and animation, Produced by Waffle Iron, Nike’s entertainment studio, and Fulwell Entertainment, and distributed by Tubi, Second Set is a portrait of an athlete entering a powerful new phase of her career, not as the player she once was, but as the woman, mother, and competitor she has become.
